Why and how we adopted a Dog "Dusky" ! ! !

It was 4th July, 2017. My both daughter in law(Rakhi and Birva) had gone out for shopping, while coming back they found three puppies playing near undergoing construction site just three minutes’ walk from our apartment.

All three puppies were very cute, but the black one was very active and fearless, both the girls wanted to play with them. When they tried to approach them, two pups ran away and hid under the salvage material nearby construction site, but the black one responded positively. Next day the whole episode repeated, but this time they brought the black puppy home. Fed him milk and let him get familiarize with home. Of course they gave him a name Cooper.

Rakhi and Birva, both wanted to keep Cooper as a pet in our home, but I was not agreed as the pup was so.. small that I did not want to separate him from his mother. So they put him back with his mother.

Next day again Rakhi brought Cooper at our home. Both the girls fed him and gave a bath.

Cooper was just 3 week old

Cooper was happy with these royal treatment he was receiving from these girls. As usual after few hours of play, I told them to put him back with his mother.

Next day again Rakhi and Birva wanted their new little fluffy friend with wagging tail to bring home. Unfortunately when they reached there, all three puppies were missing. Even their mother was missing. They inquired the local labors who were working on the site, none of had any idea about these pups.

It was a very sad moment for all of us. Both girls were pretty upset. Lets hear from one of them how it felt:

🎯
We searched for him in nearby area that day but we couldn’t find him. We came home empty handed, we felt we shouldn’t have left him alone, we should have kept him the day we thought of adopting him.
Now we started missing Cooper…

The very next day, me and Birva again went to the same place for Cooper hoping we’ll find him with his wagging tail…But again no luck. He was very friendly and cute that anyone could fall in love with him. We felt bad because someone took him away from his mother, we saw the pain in his mother’s eyes the way she was running and searching for them.
That scene made our heart weep.😢

Now we got inspired to adopt a Dog

We were all missing Cooper, so we thought of adopting a dog, as we always wanted to adopt a pet but we used to think that who would take care of a pet?, as we are all working and living in a flat, also papa was not ready as he said that "you guys played with Cooper for just two days and you all got so attached so what will happen if we adopt a dog and then something happens to it??"

But three (Me, Birva and also Hardik) of us were wanted it badly so….😕

Any body, seen this Movie? “Dog’s Purpose story”?

Me and Papa were watching that.  In that movie it shows how a dog goes through four lifetimes with different owners through various time periods. During this journey, he steadily understands his real purpose.
After watching that movie we felt that we should adopt a dog!
And.....  Papa agreed at last 🤷🏼‍♀️

We started searching online for pet adoption, but all were breeder and they charge an exorbitant  amount for a particular breed, so we dropped that idea.
Instead of buying we should adopt, as buying is ethically wrong. We then searched few NGO’s and adoption camps but didn’t find it genuine and so we kept our searching on. That was the month of November 2017.

Anniversary Gift –

Days passed away in search of a good NGO and Hardik & Birva's wedding anniversary was also close. Me and dad wanted to give them a nice anniversary gift but we were out of options. Suddenly we got an idea that why not to gift a pup on their anniversary?! And we had plenty of time as they both went to Munnar to celebrate their anniversary. We were able to hide our search for a pup from them :-)

Hardik always wanted a German Shepherd and Birva is crazy about Beagle. If we go for adoption there are least chances that we could find either of it. Hence we decided to drop anniversary gift idea and wait till they return from Munnar.

Mission Possible – An Organization for adoption.

FINALLY!!! We found an organization named ‘Mission Possible’ started by Mrs. Padmini Stump (Click here to know more about the NGO and Mrs. Padmini)
She is running a shelter house for stray and abandoned dogs and cats. We came to know about this organization from their Google and facebook page, we contacted her and the very NEXT DAY ( Yes! it was 9th Dec. 2017) we went her place to adopt a furry friend.🐶

We reached there around 5PM and when we entered we saw cats & dogs playing around.

There were other families too who came to adopt a pet. Me and Birva were so excited that we started clicking picture of every pet around us. Then we met Mrs. Padmini Stump, she greeted us well and then she explained us about the NGO and how people have helped her building this organization and now that NGO is so big that they have 300+ dogs & cats she is taking care of.

After our introduction she told one of her helper to bring a small puppy.
When that guy came down holding a little black puppy with dazzling eyes and that’s how finally we met our “Bundle of Joy”.💖

She was barely 3 weeks old, papa held her and meanwhile me and Birva completed all the adoption formalities. After that we booked a cab as it was December and was so cold outside so thinking about this little pup we preferred cab. We informed Hardik to arrange something for her welcome."

This was the story by Rakhi, Why and how we have a new family member in our house.

“Where did the time go?” middle-aged and older adults often remark. Many of us feel that time passes more quickly as we age, but here it is not the age.

The whole this year is just like taking a flight.. Time fly... And the reason, of course because of "DUSKY"

We have given a name to this female pup "Dusky".

Here are some photos of Dusky with family members.

Hope you all wish Dusky a happy birthday. 🎂
